What students told us about Madgwick Student
Student comments in the T1 survey reinforce the quantitative findings.
A tool students agree with
Three quarters of students agree with using AI tools in education, and more than 86% do not disagree. For online students in particular, the platform signalled an institution keeping pace with change.
"It gives me the sense that UNE understands where the world is going. Being an online student, it gives me more confidence in the university's IT architecture."
"I am glad to be part of the first uni allowing AI as part of its courses."
"It made me feel like the university actually cared about our studies and working with the times rather than just ignoring you and emerging technology. It makes me hopeful that the university is trying their best to set us up for success in our future in the workplace."
Help, on their terms
All external support options scored over 90% for helpfulness, and the comments indicate students valued both the range of help available and its UNE origin.
"Great to have a variety of support available as everyone has different needs and different comfort levels with technology and tools."
"Knowing that the ready made tools are informed by UNE content, and that I can create assistants with knowledge bases built from relevant data and information, provides me with a sounding board for thoughts I may not want to broach with staff."
Access outside standard hours also mattered to students.
"I felt like I had my own personal 24 hour tutor - especially helpful given much of my study was done between 8:00p.m and 3:00a.m."
Trust in the platform was a further factor.
"I feel more confident using AI via UNE than the publicly available options."
"I would get it to help edit, and compare against marking criteria - made me feel more at ease. Also found it more trustworthy for assignments as the AI came from the uni."
Confidence, in their words
Several students linked the platform to their confidence to continue, from first assessment through to final unit.
"This is my first time at Uni, and at 45 it was daunting. Having Madgwick helped me feel more confident."
"Using Madgwick Student helped me create a structured study plan and summarise large amounts of content into manageable sections. That made things feel a lot less overwhelming and helped me regain confidence in keeping up with my degree."
"Through using it to parse theories, I felt confident enough in my knowledge to build on that and continue with my studies."
